World premiere Horrible Science space adventure lands in Manchester this February half term

Get ready for an epic space adventure at Manchester’s Science and Industry Museum this February half term! The first-ever major exhibition based on the popular BBC show Horrible Science, titled Horrible Science: Cosmic Chaos, runs from February 13 until January 3, 2027, before heading to London. Visitors can engage with fun, hands-on experiences, like smelling space socks and floating in micro-gravity illusions, all while exploring the Solar System.

The exhibition kicks off in Dr Big Brain’s lair, where guests face cosmic challenges. You’ll learn how astronauts live on the ISS, view Tim Peake’s headset, and check out a real space toilet! Other intriguing areas include Mysterious Moon, Sizzling Sun, Weird Worlds, and Disco Planet, each with unique activities and visuals.

This exhibition, developed with various partners including BBC Children’s and Education, promises to mix fun with real science. Tickets are £10, with discounts for families, and free for little ones under three. There’ll be extra events, including accessible sessions and family-friendly activities.
