Woman and child hit by tram in south Manchester

Emergency services rushed to a tram stop in south Manchester on Wednesday evening after a woman and teenage boy were hit by a tram at Didsbury Village around 8pm. Trams were halted between St Werburgh’s Road and East Didsbury due to the incident. The teenage boy reportedly suffered minor injuries, while the woman is in hospital with back injuries. Passengers on the tram were evacuated as police, paramedics, and fire crews attended the scene. A significant response was noted, with police cars and ambulances lining Olive Shapley Avenue. Transport for Greater Manchester confirmed there’s no tram service between West Didsbury and East Didsbury due to the collision. Greater Manchester Police were on-site from around 7.40pm, with the woman receiving initial treatment before being taken to hospital.
