Why there was a strange pattern in the skies above Greater Manchester on Friday

On Friday, January 9, residents in Greater Manchester were left intrigued as six aircraft flew in formation over the region, emitting a rumbling sound. Many took to social media to discuss their sightings, with one plane spotter questioning if they were RAF or USAF planes. Others expressed their confusion on platforms like Facebook, noting the unusual side-by-side flying. It turns out the aircraft were actually Boeing 767-200s belonging to the US military, flying over areas including Bury, Rochdale, and north Manchester around 4pm before heading towards Sheffield and the east coast.
