Stockport to celebrate Lunar New Year with festival featuring markets, performances, food and more

Stockport’s gearing up for a lively Lunar New Year Festival on February 7-8 at Merseyway shopping centre. Running 9am-5pm both days, the event will see around 50 market traders offering a mix of delicious East Asian food from countries like Taiwan, China, and Japan, alongside traditional crafts, fashion, books, and more. Expect tasty street snacks, bubble tea, and other delights. There’ll be live music from traditional instrument players and a dynamic Lion Dance to kick off festivities, embodying luck and new beginnings. Organised by EatGoodWest, the festival aims to recreate the vibrant atmosphere of Lunar New Year markets found in East Asia. It’s all about bringing a festive, family-friendly vibe to Stockport, celebrating the Year of the Horse, which stands for strength and independence. Don’t miss it!
