Stockport SEND school nominated for two national awards
Lisburne School in Stockport has been nominated for two categories at the national Education Estates Awards: ‘Project of the Year’ in inclusive design and the state school category. Opened in December 2024 at a cost of £15.5 million, the school caters to 208 students aged 4-11 with complex needs like autism and learning difficulties. It features impressive facilities, including a forest school and sensory garden, all aimed at fostering confidence and social skills in pupils. Cllr Wendy Meikle praised the school’s inclusive environment, highlighting its impact on students, families, and the community. Architect Lorenzo Mognini mentioned it sets a new standard for SEND provisions. The winner will be revealed on October 14, 2025.
