Stockport MPs respond to fatal synagogue attack in Crumpsall
Stockport’s MPs have expressed their shock and condolences following a tragic attack at the Crumpsall synagogue on 2 October. The incident, involving a car and subsequent stabbings, has sadly resulted in two deaths and several injuries. Armed police responded promptly, shooting the male suspect.
MP Navendu Mishra shared his horror at the news, emphasising that Yom Kippur should promote community togetherness, and praised the police and first responders for their swift action. Tom Morrison described the attack as a deeply shocking violation during a sacred time, offering condolences to the victims and pledging support to the Jewish community. He also thanked emergency services for their professionalism in handling the situation. Lisa Smart echoed these sentiments, expressing her horror at the attack and extending thoughts to the victims, emergency services, and the broader Jewish community. The road remains closed as investigations continue.
