Regulator backtracks on 'ghost train' plan
Plans to ban passengers from the popular 7am train service between Manchester and London have been scrapped after a change of heart from the government regulator, ORR. They acknowledged that while the service could affect reliability on the West Coast Main Line, its significance and popularity warranted its continuation. The ORR clarified that this decision only applies to the 7:00 GMT service from Manchester Piccadilly to London Euston. However, the train will still run, but only with Avanti staff on board.
