Police issue update on cause after huge fire breaks out on Manchester street as arrest made

A massive fire in Levenshulme led to the evacuation of five homes and is being investigated as arson. The blaze, which erupted from an outdoor shed on Lonsdale Road, was reported around 6.35pm on Wednesday, October 15. Fire crews from Gorton, Whitehill, and Stockport quickly responded and worked late into the night to control the flames. A male suspect was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life, although his age hasn’t been disclosed yet. Dramatic footage captured the intense fire and thick smoke. Greater Manchester Police confirmed they’re still investigating the incident, with firefighters praising their quick response and safety measures taken during the evacuation.
