Police bomb squad called to Heaton Norris following reports of unexploded grenade
Today, police bomb squad tackled a potentially dangerous situation on Sheffield Street in Lancashire Hill after an unexploded grenade was found. They’ve set up a 100-metre cordon and evacuated nearby homes and businesses as a precaution. Greater Manchester Police confirmed that the grenade isn’t thought to be suspicious. A spokesperson mentioned that emergency services are actively dealing with the situation and that the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) team is on-site to safely handle the device. Residents are advised to steer clear of Wharf Street Junction and Short Street Junction on Old Road while the incident unfolds.
