A police officer has been dismissed for sending “grossly inappropriate” sexual messages to a vulnerable member of the public. During a misconduct hearing, he claimed his decision-making and memory were impaired by mental health issues. However, the panel found that his actions were clearly motivated by sexual intent and marked a serious breach of professional standards. Despite only partially accepting his misconduct, the conclusion was clear: his behaviour fell far short of what is expected.
