New ITV thriller features locations shot in Stockport

Stockport’s back on the telly, featuring in ITV’s gripping new thriller “Betrayal.” This four-part drama, set in the intelligence world, stars Shaun Evans as MI5 officer John Hughes. The story kicks off when John meets a British-Iranian man linked to Stockport gangland, who holds info about a UK plot. Sadly, before he can reveal anything, the informant is murdered, forcing John to kill the assassin in self-defence. The series showcases John juggling an internal investigation, his troubled marriage, and a ticking clock on the case. Written by acclaimed playwright David Eldridge and directed by Julian Jarrold, it also stars Romola Garai, Zahra Ahmadi, and Nikki Amuka-Bird. Filmed in Liverpool and Greater Manchester, including the Merseyway car park in Stockport, “Betrayal” premiered on 8 February at 9pm on ITV. Stockport isn’t new to the filming scene, appearing in Harlan Coben’s thrillers and shows like Peaky Blinders, thanks to its diverse settings.
