Mountain rescue teams drafted in amid major search for missing child at Holcombe Moor
Mountain rescue teams were deployed to search for a missing 13-year-old boy on Holcombe Moor near Bury on Sunday night, October 12. Greater Manchester Police were alerted around 7.50pm and enlisted the help of Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue, Bolton Mountain Rescue, search dog teams, and a drone unit from the fire service. Despite the mist and darkness, teams began searching on foot and with drones. Thankfully, the boy was located safe and well at about 9.30pm near Red Brook and was reunited with his family in Holcombe Village. Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue expressed relief at the successful find, noting that the boy was a bit cold but otherwise unharmed.
