Misconduct charge over officer's bomb response
A senior police officer is facing disciplinary action for not admitting a lack of experience during the Manchester Arena bombing response. The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) launched an investigation after the police self-referred on 2 September 2021, triggered by complaints from victims’ families about the police’s decision-making that night. The officer is accused of failing to inform others that they weren’t adequately skilled or knowledgeable to effectively coordinate the response.
