LIVE: Six rushed to hospital and Greater Manchester road closed amid 'serious accident' - latest updates

A serious accident closed Wigan Road in Bolton this morning after a crash involving a car and a taxi around 12.45am. Six people were taken to hospital with injuries. The police set up a large scene, with officers from the serious collision unit investigating. Local traffic service Inrix labelled the incident serious, leading to road closures in both directions from Deane Church Lane to Bankfield Street. Councillor Ayyub Patel expressed his sadness over the incident and praised the emergency services for their swift response. Four fire crews were on scene for around two hours.
