Greater Manchester school forced to shut amid power cut

Westleigh School in Leigh, Greater Manchester, had to close due to a power cut affecting 68 nearby properties this morning. They announced on Facebook that it was unavoidable, and any students still on their way would stay safe at school until arrangements were made for their return home. The power outage was first reported around 7.55am, with Electricity North West expecting restoration by approximately 1.55pm. A list of impacted postcodes includes various areas within WN7.
