Four people remain in hospital following Manchester synagogue attack

Four people are in serious condition in hospital after a synagogue attack in north Manchester on October 2. The incident occurred around 9:30 am outside Heaton Park synagogue on Middleton Road, involving a car driven into people and a stabbing. Thankfully, the suspect didn’t enter the building and was shot dead by armed police within seven minutes of the initial call. Sadly, two members of the public were killed, and five, including a security guard, were injured. The Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police, Sir Stephen Watson, confirmed ongoing investigations, revealing the potential identification of the offender and that two others had been arrested. He commended the quick police response and the courage of those within the synagogue who helped contain the situation. The attack took place on Yom Kippur, a significant day for the Jewish community, highlighting the urgency of maintaining safety in worship spaces. The police reiterated their commitment to protecting the community.
