Firefighter seriously hurt tackling huge blaze after building collapses
A firefighter suffered serious injuries during a massive fire at the Pioneer Mill in Radcliffe, Bury. The incident occurred last night, with the building collapsing while responders were on-site. The firefighter is currently in hospital receiving treatment. The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) dispatched a significant team of nine fire engines, including assistance from Lancashire and Cheshire crews, to tackle the blaze, which is now under control. GMFRS plans a full investigation in collaboration with the Fire Brigade’s Union to ensure safety and learn from the event. Deputy Chief Fire Officer Carlos Meakin praised the bravery and professionalism of the teams involved, expressing support for the injured firefighter and their family during this challenging time.
