Fire service issues update after firefighter seriously hurt in Pioneer Mill blaze
A firefighter seriously injured in the Pioneer Mill blaze is still recovering in hospital, according to Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS). The fire broke out on Saturday night, and the crew has been working at the historic mill in Bury since then. The injury happened when part of the building collapsed during the response. GMFRS has stated that demolition of unstable sections of the mill began on Tuesday and is progressing steadily and safely, with ongoing safety checks. Investigations into the cause of the fire are also in progress. The service expressed their support for the injured firefighter and their family during this recovery period.
