Eighty-six arrests made in a single day as part of police operation in Stockport

On 12 February, Greater Manchester Police’s ‘Operation AVRO’ led to 86 arrests in Stockport, showcasing an extensive law enforcement effort. The operation included early morning raids in areas like Heaton Mersey and Mottram Fold, targeting burglary and drug offences. Notably, a man was arrested for multiple burglaries, and two women were taken in for drug-related charges. Police conducted traffic patrols on high-risk routes and tested knife sales at shops, with one business illegally selling to an underage cadet. A facial recognition camera van was also used to catch individuals of interest. Chief Superintendent Natalie Dalby highlighted the operation’s comprehensive approach, expressing pride in the officers’ commitment to enhancing community safety. She emphasised ongoing efforts to support vulnerable individuals and deter crime in Stockport.
