Council confirms gym access at Stockport Sports Village will continue until December 2026
Stockport Council, in collaboration with Life Leisure and Stockport County, has extended community access to gym and studio facilities at Stockport Sports Village until December 2026, following feedback from locals. Cllr Mark Roberts highlighted the importance of the sports village for community sport and education, emphasizing that the arrangement aims to secure the site’s future following the Council’s intervention during Covid. He noted that the partnership with Stockport County is vital for ensuring long-term community access and strengthening educational opportunities in the area. While changes in health and fitness provisions may concern some, reinvestment in local Life Leisure facilities is planned to enhance offerings for residents. Cllr Dan Oliver expressed gratitude for community involvement and reaffirmed the commitment to improving sport and fitness provisions throughout Stockport.
