Burnham backs Baroness Longfield to chair inquiry

Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham has dismissed criticism regarding the appointment of Anne, the new chair for the national grooming gang inquiry. He praised her experience as a former children’s commissioner, highlighting her fearlessness and independence in that role. Oldham Council has backed her appointment as well. Councillor Brian Hobin, from Failsworth Independents, added his support for the inquiry, noting he has campaigned for it over the past six years.
